French Polynesia covers an area of approximately 2.5 million square kilometers and has about 130 islands. The most populated and visited are the Society Islands which are divided into two groups: The Windward Islands & The Leeward Islands. The administrative island of Tahiti is part of the Windward Islands whilst the most famous of the islands, Bora Bora is located in the Leeward Islands.
